Howard County Sheriff’s Daughter Killed in Crash

The Howard County Sheriff’s department experienced a great tragedy on Monday, April 8th.
The daughter of Howard County Sheriff Jerry Asher died in a two-vehicle crash just west of the U.S. 31 bypass around 10:30 P.M. Jordan Asher, 21, was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on U.S. 35 near County Road 80 West. Jennifer Eastwood, 48, of Logansport, was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on U.S. 35. For reasons yet unknown, their vehicles collided head-on.
Howard County Coroner Steve Seele pronounced Asher dead at the crash scene.
Crews extricated Eastwood from her Jeep and flew via medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital. Her current condition is unknown.
Eastwood has been tested for OWI, which is a standard procedure for all deadly crashes. No results have been made public.
Police said the road is too new and there’s not enough data yet for it to qualify as a dangerous road. INDOT traffic engineers evaluate areas of deadly crashes every 6 months.
This same stretch of U.S. 35 claimed the life of two teenagers a few months ago. In November, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old died in a car crash when an intoxicated driver crossed the center lane.
