Two children were struck and killed by a grain truck in northern Indiana on Tuesday afternoon.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office reports first responders from several agencies were called around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. The caller reported two children had been struck by a truck.
Officers arrived to find a semi-tractor with a loaded grain trailer attached next to the children.
Preliminary investigation revealed the tractor, driven by 26-year-old Benjamin Sheets of Nappanee, was pulling forward after it was loaded with grain and struck the children, who were presumed to be underneath the trailer.
The children, ages three and five, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
