Two Vehicle Crash Sends Three to Hospital

On April 17th, 2020 just after 1:00 PM Indiana State Police Troopers received a report of a semi on its side across US 35 in the area of CR 350 South.  Troopers arrived to find a Red Gold semi on its left side across the roadway and a Pontiac car off the west side of the road.

The preliminary investigation showed that the Pontiac, driven by Kiersten Brown, age 22, of Muncie, was southbound when the car slowed and tried to turn left onto CR 350 So. The Red Gold Semi driven by Aaron E. Layman, age 27 of Hurricane, WV, was southbound behind the car. As the car slowed the semi attempted to pass it on the left, with the car turning left into the path of the passing truck.

The semi hit the car in the driver's side door before running off the left side of the road, over correcting back across the road where it turned over onto its driver side. The driver of the car, Kiersten Brown, was not wearing her safety belt and was ejected onto the road.  Two passengers in her car, Evan Brown age 21, of Middletown, and Michael Farber, age unknown, of Farmland, removed her from the roadway.

Evan Brown and Farber were taken to the hospital by a passerby to be checked out. Kiersten Brown was taken to I.U. Health’s Ball Hospital by Delaware County EMS with a laceration to her head and injuries to her lower extremities, all believed to be non-life-threatening. The driver of the semi, Aaron Layman, who had to be extricated from his truck, was not injured.
