Reviewing Indiana Boating Safety

Every summer Indiana lakes and waterways are filled with boat enthusiasts. This can be a wonderful time for those who enjoy the recreational opportunities, but the Tabor Law Firm would like to remind boaters that during this time of the year is when most boating accidents occur. Every year boaters are reminded, but every year there are numerous boating accidents that cause serious injuries, fatalities and other damages.

Most boating accidents are caused by intoxication, operator distraction, speeding and negligence. Alcohol is a major factor in boting accidents and the U.S. Coast Guard reported that alcohol was the leading factor in fatal boating accidents, causing 17 percent of deaths.

Before operating a boat the driver should make sure he has the required amount of life jackets and other safety devices. This can be done with a pre-boating check and could prevent a serious boating accident. Other safety measures an operator should consider are checking the weather, updated boating skills and training, speed limits and basic boating laws.

At Tabor Law, we sincerely wish that every person who operates a boat this year will follow all safety rules and laws, but there will always be a few people who decide they do not have to obey the law. If you have been seriously injured in an accident involving a boat, contact Tabor Law. You may be entitled to compensation and our attorneys will be your partner throughout the legal process.

You made a few excellent points there. I did a search about the subject and hardly found any specific details on other sites, but then happy to be here, seriously, thanks.
