Smith v. Barmet Industries

On May 19, 1984, Novice Smith was in the scope of his employment, working at a plant in Warrick County, Indiana. Mr. Smith was working with a with a product that was designed, and manufactured by Barmet Industries, Inc. and Barmet of Indiana, Inc. He was in the process of using the product in conjunction with a remelt furnace. Suddenly and without warning an explosion occurred and Novice Smith was killed as a result. Barmet Industries, Inc. and Barmet of Indiana, Inc. denied any liability for the incident.
