The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTSA) estimated that alcohol was involved in 41 percent of all fatal automobile crashes and 9 percent of all crashes in 2006. Research showed that in 2006, 17,602 fatalities occurred as the result of alcohol related accidents. This statistic means that there is one fatality caused by an alcohol related accident every 30 minutes.
